v4: How to automatically shut down your PC after a Macrium Reflect backup

This article shows you how to automatically shut-down your PC after a Macrium Reflect disk image or file backup. This enables you to perform a backup job at the end of the day without having to wait until the backup finishes to turn off your PC.

You can also create a Desktop shortcut to the backup job. This enables you to run the backup and shutdown your PC with a simple double click!

First you need to create an xml backup definition file and then follow the steps below :

  1. Right click on the xml file and select 'Generate a VBScript file'

  2. The following dialog is shown. Select the 'Shutdown' option.

Select 'Enable Shut Down' and choose the 'Shut Down' radio button.

  3. You might want to explore the other options within the window to see if there are any you would want to enable or modify, then click 'OK'

    That's it!
You should now get an email every time that you run the VBscript that you have created!

How do I run it?

To run VBScript source files from Macrium Reflect, click the VBScript tab, right click on the file and select 'Execute'. You can schedule the script by taking the 'Schedule' option.

You can also create a Desktop Shortcut to the VBScript source and simply double click the icon on your Desktop to start the backup.

To create a Desktop Shortcut, click the VBScript tab, right click on the file and select 'Create a Desktop Shortcut'.
